Walk to School Day 2012

October, 2012 - The Dads' Club is happy to help out with the Walk to School Day at the Intermediate School. We will run tug-o-war games during the event and will staff manpower for set up and clean up at Riverside Park. The Dads' Club donated $1000 to this event to fund healthy food and beverages.

We would also like to acknowledge that the parent program to WTSC, Safe Routes to School Chagrin Falls, has been awarded the highest honor among the national SRTS program, being singled out among 13,500 other SRTS programs across the nation. More information about our SRTS program at Safe Routes Chagrin.

Chagrin Falls High School Marching Band Plays Anthem at Progressive
September 20, 2012 - Check out this really great performance of the band playing the national anthem at Progressive Field in their new uniforms. The Dads' Club helped purchase the uniforms by matching dollar for dollar all funds raised for the new uniforms, a total donation of $22,500. To honor the students in the band, we arranged the anthem spot with Indians.

Middle School Raised Beds
June, 2012 - The Dads' Club helped build, install, and fill with dirt, 4 raised beds in the Middle School courtyard. The beds measure 12x4x2 feet. This was a pure labor project for us.  It was lead by Kathryn Garvey, who secured funding and donations Ohio State University and the Chagrin Pet and Garden. The raised beds are to be used and maintained by the middle school students.

March, 2012, Cleveland Flats -  HUGE SUCCESS

Thanks for all your help!
Huge thanks to everyone who helped this year. Just to give you an idea of how big an effort this was, we had 141 different registered volunteers who worked a combined time of about 1200 hours. Moms and dads, school administrators and teachers, people from the Rec and Music Lovers, a handful of very experienced Nautica regulars, and all sorts of people from within and outside the community pitched in to pull this off. It was an eclectic group for sure, one that worked really hard and did an outstanding job. Thanks to your help, we were able to raise over $38,000 for the kids in the school district.

Thanks to all who came to this year's Dinner Dance and especially all our donors and supporters who made it possible. Special thanks to our platinum sponsor Fifth Third Bank for sponsoring this. The dance this year was a huge success. Check out our couples and group photos taken by Tim Driscoll of TigerEye Imaging:

Gurney Says "Thank You" for the iPads

The Dads' Club funded a request to turn a planned iPod Touch lab into an iPad lab, the first one to be put into operation at the school. Here at Dads' Club central, we've been receiving lots of thank you notes from the kids, pictures, and even a movie thanking the Dads' Club for the iPads. Check these out.

We've received many Thank You letters from the kids:

Walk to School Day - Friday, 10/7 - Riverside Park

The Dads' Club donated and helped serve 500 smoothies for the Safe Routes Chagrin Falls Walk to School Day for the Intermediate School students. We also ran a tug-o-war event and gave small prizes out to the Gurney kids who happened to get roped into this event with their older siblings (we had a few left over from the canceled picnic). Thanks to all who helped out. Thanks also to Marti DeSantis, Food Service Supervisor, for envisioning and coordinating this.
